so you are saying the MVC only gets 3 in if YSU wins..?..

Yes.  Indiana State would only have 6 D1 wins.  YSU would be 7-4, but at best would finish in a 3 way tie for 5th in the conference.  That would make it quite difficult to get in ahead of all the 8-3 teams.  Check out the thread "Cook carries Youngstown St. past W. Illinois 31-7".

Yes. Youre right about 5th in the conference but when your conference is known by many as the "SEC" of the FCS then it should warrant a bit more merit in my opinion. Also if Im not mistaken the four teams we lost to during the horrific slump in October were all in the top 25 the time we played them if Im not mistaken so that as well should help our chances. Im not sure if we'll be able to beat Indiana State but if we do I think we earned a spot into the playoffs based on the strong finish and not to mention a win at Pitt (who played Notre Dame to the brink before falling in OT). Im hoping these kids can get a taste of playoff football myself. Will they? That is yet to be determined. Lets go guins!

How in the world do we even hint at trying to tell these coaches about a change in their lineup. Do you believe that this coaching staff that continues to put out the same personnel week in and week out regardless of teams averaging over 40ppg in Conference play would even consider any changes???!!! Is it me or is there more to all this than winning football games. If its about embarrassing the University then hot damn Id say theyre doing one heck of a job but if its about winning then Id say how in the world was this Head Coach even hired?! I dont care what anyone says about the talent on this team. There is enough talent on this team to compete for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP on the FCS level but there is obviously HEAD COACHING that couldnt compete in a flag football league along with position coaches and/or Coordinators that have no clue on who to play! This season has been a travesty and the more I think about it I feel that Wolford and his ARROGANT ASS got exactly what he deserved. What a frustrating season that I still cant believe how these "so called" coaches could continue to let the ship sink w/o showing any signs of trying to get it back in order. THE SADDEST THING ABOUT ALL THIS IS THE EXAMPLE THIS COACHING STAFF HAS LAID OUT IN FRONT OF THESE YOUNG MEN IN DEALING WITH ADVERSITY BEFORE THEY HEAD OUT INTO THE REAL WORLD!!! SMDH  >:( :( ??? :-[ :'(

WOW

I BET YOU SUMNER WISHES THEY COULD PLAY YSU EVERY WEEK. HE'D RUN AWAY WITH THE WALTER PAYTON AWARD!!!  >:(

IM A RELATIVE OF A PLAYER THAT OBVIOUSLY SHOULD BE PLAYING AND IM NOT GOING TO NAME WHO THAT PLAYER IS BUT AS A FAMILY MEMBER I AM DISGUSTED WITH THE WAY WOLFORD HAS HANDLED THIS FOOTBALL TEAM AND SO DISAPPOINTED THAT HE'S SHOWN ALL THESE PLAYERS THAT HE SUPPOSEDLY LEADS ON HOW NOT TO MAN UP TO ADVERSITY. HE CONTINUED AND CONTINUES TO SHED OFF THE BLAME ONTO HIS PLAYERS AND ALL THESE OUTCOMES HAVE BEEN WELL DESERVED IMO.

True, maybe we will do something radical like play Angle or Bellamy--I was amazed they finally gave Pace a few carries on 3rd and 4th down which he converted as I expected.

why in the world would we do that?! weve been pretty explosive the past 9 consecutive qtrs.  :o smdh they kept putting out the same players and expect the other players to come in and save their ass after they're down 21-28 pts every game. id like some of the stuff these coaches are smoking!  ::)

its about to get really ugly in the second half. i just want to thank wolford for ruining my 4th weekend in a row. its obvious that team is only following its leaders and that is theyve tanked the season. look at the bright side theyll spend the holidays with their families! (sarcastic voice)  ??? :-X

YSU DBs have no speed whatsoever.

doesnt help that our linebackers look like they're totally lost out there either!  :-\ put in other players please before this season is totally wasted on coaches inability to play the right players!!! unreal how incompetent these guys are.

Its not going to be easy (just like taking in yesterdays debacle) but here it goes. I'm not sure who is to blame. Is it the coaches that obviously the past three games and more specifically since the "turning point" of the entire season happened, and that was when Marcus Williams of NDSU stepped in front of a Kurt Hess pass to the end zone and returned it 98yds for a touchdown. Its amazing what ONE PLAY does to not just someone but an entire team and not to mention obviously the community.

I can come on here and point out certain plays that were made or not made and/or also point out things like why arent we utilizing Will Shaw or the plethora of RB's at our disposal but Im sure we've heard it enough. The saddest thing that I've seen is not the way these kids have faced adversity but its been actually how the coaches and fan base (not all of the fans but many) have dealt with it. If I have a family member thats a player on the current team I'm kinda disheartened to see how "his coaches" have dealt with adversity and the examples they're setting for these kids. I'm not from Youngstown but from the Midwest and know damn well the work ethic that is instilled in many of the people in this city and its history. I understand the people's frustration but at the end of the day these "kids" need every bit of our support and at the end of the day are representing the community.

I read someone say that our defense finally played well enough to win and I'd have to disagree with that assessment but the way they've been playing they did do a little bit better but no where near for us to be successful moving forward. To summarize it there needs to be changes across the board and here are a few I'd suggest.

First off the Offensive: Hess actually did look like he had a concussion (plus the way he's played since that INT in the NDSU game he needs some time off) if I had to guess and Angle should've been put in and probably named the starter of next weeks game. Also utilize all the talent at our disposal from the RB's to last I checked we have a pretty damn good TE named Will Shaw and all the young WR's that have shown are pretty good if you only can get them the ball. Use passes like swings, slants, and screens to give the defense something to think about when they're rushing and/or blitzing.

Defensively our Dline actually played a great game with great effort. Linebackers on the other hand IMO both starters #3 and #6 need to be replaced because of their inability in pass coverage and to be honest they havent been that great against the run to boot. The cornerbacks need to stop jumping in celebration after a pass deflection! Last I checked thats what youre here for to make plays and not to make a fool of yourself after every play! Safeties actually played well in comparison to their last few outings.

Special Teams have been a disaster and that has to solely be on the ST coach. If you can bear to watch a replay of the game (Im not sure itd be good for your health) there are players out there on the field that seem as if they are in a daze and by the end of the game I felt some of the coaches were as well. Specifically the one play that sticks out in my mind that summarizes YSU in its current state is the blocked punt. On that play #6 is supposed to be blocking but doesn't touch a soul and lo and behold a blocked punt! Instead of benching his ass or chewing him out no one says a word and maybe did but wasn't loud enough for any of us to hear. Its obvious that some players are being favored for whatever reason over others and that needs to stop ASAP because that alone is an easy way of losing your players. Put guys that are gonna lay it all out there and represent YSU in a positive manner. Its football and just like life when you get knocked down you need to get the f$%^ back up and it seems that there is no one (with authority) in that locker room with that mentality. Coach Wolford should look straight in the mirror and basically answer everyone's question of "WHO IS TO BLAME"!?!?

Funny how Teven #3, goes from being our leading tackler last year as a freshman to our biggest weakness at LB this year....

With all due respect if Im not mistaken our defense "last year" wasnt that great at all and a big reason why we finished 6-5 and out of the playoffs. Just because he played last year and led the team in tackles ( which he should being he's the MLB) really doesnt hide the fact that he is in over his head especially in pass coverage (which many of the teams in this league do last I checked). The fact that the coaches continue to put him out there is a joke! All anyone "with eyes" has to do is look at the game tape because the "tape dont lie." The game that we actually won and #3 Teven didnt start against UNI is only more proof that he shouldnt be starting. If Im not mistaken #10 Ali was right there on the last play to help preserve the win against the Panthers (the first in the last 11 yrs I might add). The funny thing is the fact that they continue to even have him #3 out there seriously.  :o

Must win game?? I like what I hear this week listening to players and Wolf. Couple changes being made for Saturday: Jamarious Boatwright is starting at nickel corner now. I always liked this kid every since he was playing as a freshman. Let's be honest #28 sucks. He was a RB last year for gods sake. Kyle Bryant is starting at LT for Radakovich and Wolf said changes will be made on the defensive line. I'm sure Aronde is the only safe bet to start. We need to get back on track and I think we will. Passing game needs to be on point because SIU loves to load the box and stop the run. GO GUINS!

I'm kind of currious to see what's going to happen to #3  ???  Starter or not he'll need to tighten up coverage. Listed as a LB but seems to always be on deep coverage. I don't know what they're doing there, and I know things have change since my playing days "BUT" as a line backer I was never required to be any deeper than 25 yards off the line of scrimmage unless I was chasing someone with the ball that got past me.

Ummm... No leather helmet jokes either  ;D

I have been wondering why they even have #3 in there at all to be honest with you. Most of the time he looks lost out there especially in coverage. I would start #10 instead because he seems to be much more disciplined and has shown that he can make plays if given a chance (two blocked punts already this season). Until the LB situation gets sorted out we'll continue to struggle because teams continually use swing, screen, and slants against us. I sure it gets straightened out because I dont think I can take too much more of this atrocious defensive play!
