With a win and Dambrot retiring at end of season I wonder if Calhoun would be interested. They pay Dambrot $1 million a year. Yes Google it.
-
Good info but Dambrot had a better resume to get that kind of money. But I bet he leave for 450 to 500k a yr and it’s a better conference etc
-
Dru Joyce Duquesne assistant will have a shot at the job. I'm sure he joined staff and followed Dambrot from Akron knowing when Dambrot retired he would be given a chance at the job.

I don't think that is a good fit for him

He needs to be recruiting not interviewing.

I would’ve thought he next move would be to the major programs (I.e. power 5).
May be SIU is willing to offer him $$$. Money talks.
-
I had saw Coach Calhoun mentioned somewhere about the Duquesne job, but it appears their assistant is in line for it.
I see WVU named Drake's coach Darian DeVries as their new coach. I really thought all along Calhoun would have a shot there, but I'm sure how Huggins ending turned out changed that trajectory.
Looks like Southern Illinois' coach was making $475,000 a year
-
Calhoun hax done a good job here let’s say great job. But what hurts him is not getting us to the dance yet which hurts him for the power 5 jobs. SIU might be a stepping stone for that.
-
Good point YSUGO.

I agree with the first part, but is SIU really that much different than YSU? They did make the tourney 3 straight years in 1993-1995 then 6 straight years from 2002-2007 and made the NIT the following year; however, they haven't been in either since. Their coach is coming off of 3 straight winning seasons and I said above was making $475,000 a year.

How much more is that than what coach makes now? just wondering! I still think he gets another oppotunity with a major program!

He makes $300,000 base salary through the 2027-2028 season, but there are a lot of bonuses in there. Call me old fashion, I don’t understand this. If he just signed the contract extension till 2028, what was he doing to interview for another mid major program already.
When Tressel signed his contract, he had an escape cause for Big 10 (specifically Ohio State). He incited at the time, if he didn’t get the OSU job after interviewing, he would stay at YSU.

I agree, guess I am out of touch also. How can you expect the players to be committed when the coach is not.

It doesn't make much sense to me either for the reasons I stated above.
Have to wonder if this was another reason why YSU wasn't interested in a post season tourney, and possibly why Lovelace & Burns are in the portal.
PFW is in the CIT championship game on Wednesday night. They started their season impressively and are now finishing it strong. It would have been nice to see YSU keep playing and have success like that. It was important not long ago, but apparently it wasn't this year.

Was thinking the same thing.

he is probably leveraging this for a raise - well deserved raise.

I thought the same thing when DJ transferred. If the university won't spend the money on their players that earned and could of played in one of the tournaments then why should a player stick around. Now I can't make the charge against YSU since I do not know what the factors were but there also was no honest clarity given.
Ft Wayne and CSU both finished behind YSU and opted to play. Green Bay,Wright state,NKU,and Milwaukee all finished ahead of Ft Wayne and CSU and didn't play in one of the post season tourneys either so maybe there is some rationale behind this.
Speaking of Ft Wayne I watched them last night win there sem-final game and got to say they are fun to watch and they play tomorrow for the championship. Love the way they run their offense.

Wright State Head Coach Scott Nagy has landed the SIU job which Calhoun interviewed for. We will see what other schools he interviews with this offseason.

Most of the jobs have been filled. Unless, he would get a shot at Marshall.

Coach Calhoun appears to be a finalist for the Utah State job now that Toledo’s coach turned them down:
@TrillyDonovan: The other Todd and Jerrod Calhoun are the next men up at Utah State.

UTS last coach made 900k a year.
