Disagree with league being more normal.  4-1 in opening round.  Had there been a fall season then NDSU rolls through the playoffs.  With Trey Lance no one beats them.  Lost in the final minute of play yesterday with very average QB play.  They also had a lineman drafted who would have played in the fall.

SDSU likely headed to title game, how is the league considered normal?  YSU wins 3-4 games in other conferences.

No YSU player on first team.  Thought maybe Jaleel McLaughlin deserved it, but when you look at the numbers that Otis Weah at North Dakota and Pierre Strong at SDSU put up, they both deserved first team.

Player of the year is the true freshman QB from SDSU, Mark Gronowski.  We just don't have the talent on this roster to consistently compete and win.  DP has a lot of work to do.

Agree with much of what all of you say.  I point the finger at Bo, but Strollo is the CEO of the athletic department.  He was afraid of Bo, and would not hold Bo accountable.  Bo looked at this job as a hobby and so did his staff.  Lazy and it shows.

As for big picture with Strollo, he is average at best.

This was 100% a DP call.  Strollo actually wanted to play the game and Tressel let DP make the call.  Phillips knew without McLaughlin, Waid, and Lenton all injured, this would likely be a rout.  Also several players last week went into the portal, including cornerback Dee Ford.

Move was weak, especially when DP said that he would only do this if he lost a starting unit to Covid.  Finances not an issue at all with a home game.  Had this been a scheduled road game, then maybe a factor.

No Covid issues, YSU quit.  ND wanted to play this game, they are not happy.  Phillips opted not to play because of injuries.

Double I agree with a lot of what you say.  I too like DP, and I think he will recruit well.  But time will tell if he can coach at a high level and if he has the staff to compete every week with some very good coaches.   Like a lot what I see from the defense.  Offense has been vanilla, boring, lacking creativity.  Is that because we don't have the talent or is it coaching?  Time will tell.

Hearing Jaleel McLaughlin a concussion and out Saturday, Waid out for second straight game and safety Quincy Lenton torn achilles tendon.  .  He will be out til 2022.

3-12 in our last 15 conference games.  Haven't won a road game in conference since 2017.  Program is a mess.  Way to early to judge Phillips and this staff.  But other than McLaughlin we have no playmakers on offense.  I am hoping that is why we run this conservative offense.   Can only hope that that they can recruit some talent at wide receivers and figure out QB then open it up.

I am rooting for Mark Waid, local QB, want him to be the guy.  I have doubts, there must have been a reason why YSU and Lehigh at our level were the only schools recruiting him.  In the pocket he struggles, the two 4th quarter interceptions were bad.  Locked in on one receiver.  I realize he is just a redshirt freshman, I think he deserves to start next year and be given every change.   Waid appears to be much more comfortable throwing on the move.

But without a great or at least a very good QB it is going to be very hard to be a playoff contender.

I like Calhoun, but something went wrong.  When DQ left the bubble and went home that was not good.  He certainly never returned to the player he was last year or the expectations we had hoped for.  I know this is a crazy year with COVID, but....

Wright State may have been second seed, but they were the best team in the conference, so we had a shot when they lost to win this tournament!  Actually Cleveland State very fortunate to still be alive.

We took a step back this year.

Crenshaw not playing this spring, unless there are major injuries at QB.  Mitch Davidson is #3 on depth chart.
As for UNI, they are preseason a top 10 team with the all conference first team preseason QB.  They are expected to be very good. Despite losing the battle of statistics, it took a last minute touchdown by SDST to beat them.  SDST is a top 10, and maybe top 5 team.

Agree with much of what has been said.  I don't think we were outcoached, I like what I saw overall from the staff.  We need better players.  Bo's last year 2-6, and many blowout losses, this process will be baby steps.  But I think Phillips will get talent and by the fall of 2022 we will be a playoff team.

As for NDSU, I listened to most of the game, Hannon said they played without their all conference fullback and starting safety.  What is frightful is that NDSU is very young, and isn't going anywhere.  Hannon also said that they have a transfer from Va. Tech who will be eligible to play QB in the fall who was a 4 star recruit out of high school.  But many of you may be right, this could be the year that SDSU wins the conference.

I am by no means being negative, and I wish Coach Phillips the best, he appears to be a great guy with a passion and he will connect with the fans.

But I saw the roster and 2 deep.  Only 3 seniors starting on defense, 27 red shirt freshman on defense.  On offense Dan Becker is the lone starter on the line with any game experience.  It is going to take him time to recruit and turn over this roster.  I think anything better than 2-6 this spring would be a good start for him.

Also, the conference didn't do him any favors by starting with the number 1-3-5 teams in the country in the first four games.

I agree with the above post on the quality of the teams, there is great individual talent based on the number of players from FCS, and the Missouri Valley Conference who play in the the NFL.  But most of the great programs have moved to FBS.  Boise, Marshall, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern and so on.  YSU one of the very few who hasn't or can't move up because of the lack of money.

Many of the teams winning in FCS now, were D-2 powers in the 1990's and prior to that.

YSU football will struggle until they get a big time QB.  Craycraft has been average at best and if he is the starter and it looks that way, then Waid has not been what we had hoped for.  ND State had Wentz and Lance, now they have a transfer from Iowa State who looks legit, in the fall they have another transfer who will be eligible from Va. Tech.  Northern Iowa has the first team preseason conference pick at QB in Will McElvain,  South Dakota State has a very good QB in Gibbs.

There is a reason YSU is picked 8th, and has one offensive or defensive starter on first team all conference, and that is Dan Becker.   We lack talent, hopefully some of these mid year transfers can help, but big picture we need Phillips and his staff to be great recruiters.
