INDIANAPOLIS -- Youngstown State forward Brandi Brown has been named the Horizon League women’s basketball Player of the Week, while Wright State guard Ivory James has been named the Newcomer of the Week.

Brown won Player of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 26.0 ppg., and 16.5 rpg., in Youngstown State’s two wins last week. She started the week with 28 points and 17 rebounds in the Penguins 72-63 win at Cleveland State. The win marked YSU’s first win at Cleveland State since the Feb. 13, 2006. On Saturday, Brown scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in just 28 minutes of action as Youngstown State downed Loyola, 75-38. The 37-point win is the largest margin of victory for the Penguins against a League opponent since joining the Horizon League for the 2001-02 season. Brown shot 50 percent from the field in the two games (21-of-42) and committed just two turnovers in 63 minutes of action.

Youngstown State (13-5, 3-2) hits the road for two games this week. The Penguins play at UIC (6-12, 2-3) on Thursday before closing the week at Wright State (9-9, 3-2) on Sunday.

James scored a team-high 19 points in Wright State’s 59-51 win over UIC on Thursday to claim her first Newcomer of the Week award. The Raiders and Flames were tied at 16 with 4:48 remaining in the first half when James took over. She scored WSU’s final 13 points of the half as the Raiders took a 29-24 lead into the break. The Camden, N.J., native finished the game 4-of-8 from the field, knocking down two three-pointers, and 9-of-10 from the free throw line.

Wright State stays at home for two games this week, hosting Valparaiso (7-11, 2-3) on Thursday and Youngstown State on Sunday.

Top Performers for the Week:
Adrian Ritchie, Green Bay(Sr., G) - Ritchie scored 15 points, grabbed eight rebounds and passed out eight assists in Green Bay’s 78-55 win at Valparaiso on Saturday. She was 6-of-11 from the field and had zero turnovers in 33 minutes of action.

Demeisha Fambro, Detroit(Sr., G) - Fambro posted double-digits in both Detroit wins last week. She tied a season-high with four three-pointers while scoring a season-high 20 points in Detroit’s win over UIC. Fambro also grabbed six rebounds against the Flames. She had 16 points and five rebounds in the Titans win over Loyola on Thursday.

Tabitha Gerardot, Valparaiso(Jr., F) - Gerardot scored a career-high 33 points in Valparaiso’s win over Milwaukee on Thursday. She also had 10 rebounds in the contest to record her fifth double-double of the season.

Cori Coleman, Cleveland State(So., G) - Coleman scored a team-high 16 points in CSU’s loss to Youngstown State on Thursday. She finished 6-of-9 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range. It marked the 11th time this season she connected on two or more three-pointers in a game.

Ashley Green, Milwaukee(So., F) - Green scored a team-high 21 points in UWM’s loss to Valparaiso on Thursday. She was 8-of-8 from the foul line and added six rebounds. During the contest, Green scored her 500th career point.

Katie Hannemann, UIC(Jr., C) - Hannemann averaged 15.0 ppg., and 6.5 rpg. in UIC’s two games last week. She scored 19 points against Detroit, outscoring the League’s leading scorer UDM’s Shareta Brown who had 15 points. She had a near double-double against Wright State, finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Top Newcomers for the Week:
Karen Flagg, Youngstown State(Jr., F) - Flagg averaged 8.0 ppg., 4.5 apg., and 4.0 rpg. in YSU’s two wins last week. She had 11 points, four rebounds and four assists in the win over Cleveland State and had five points, four rebounds and five assists in the win over Loyola.

Rosanna Reynolds, Detroit(Fr., G) - Reynolds averaged 9.0 ppg., 3.5 apg., and 2.5 ppg., in Detroit’s two win last week. She hit a season-best three three-pointers while scoring 13 points in Detroit’s win over Loyola on Thursday.

Charae Richardson, Valparaiso(Jr., G) - Richardson scored 14 points and passed out a career-high six assists in the Crusaders win over Milwaukee on Thursday.

Taylor Johnson, Loyola(Fr., G) - Johnson averaged 13.5 ppg. and 7.5 rpg., in the Ramblers two games last week. She had 21 points and nine rebounds in Loyola’s loss at Detroit on Thursday.

Rachel Story, UIC (Jr., G) - Story averaged 12.5 ppg., 4.0 rpg. and 3.5 apg., in UIC’s two games last week.
