Youngstown -- Sophomore Youngstown State swimmer Nishani Cicilson will compete for her native Suriname at the 2009 FINA World Swimming & Diving Championships, which are being held in Rome this July 18-August 2. Cicilson was selected to participate in the event as one of the top three swimmers in Suriname by their National Swimming Federation. She had an impressive freshman campaign for the Penguins during 2008-09. At the Horizon League Championships she was 12th in the 50-yard freestyle, 13th in the 100 backstroke and 13th in the 100 free. She was named the program's rookie of the year following the campaign. |
