Youngstown -- Jillian Coleman, a former standout at Ohio University and assistant at Ashland University, will join Youngstown State's swimming and diving program as a full-time assistant coach, head coach Matt Anderson announced. "We're very excited to have Jillian come on board with us," Anderson said. "She'll be a big help in all areas of the program, especially with recruiting." Coleman, a Clifton, Va., native, brings six years of coaching experience to Youngstown State, including two seasons at the collegiate level. Following her three-year swimming career at OU, Coleman joined the coaching staff as a student assistant while working to finish her degree. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in June 2004, she joined Ashland's staff and worked with improving technique, recruiting and meet organization. She also spent four years as an assistant coach for the Fairfax Station Flyers Swim Team in Virginia. As a student-athlete, Coleman was a three-year letterwinner for the Bobcats from 2000 to 2003 and competed primarily in butterfly events. She was a two-time Mid-American Conference Champion, a national qualifier and helped lead Ohio to the MAC Championship as a sophomore. She also swam one year at Division III Washington College where she was a two-time All-American, two-time conference champion and team MVP. |
