Youngstown -- Sarah Porchak, a nationally ranked Canadian swimmer, has signed a letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at Youngstown State, Head Coach Matt Anderson announced. Porchak, a native of Tillsonburg, Ontario, will compete in the backstroke and the butterfly for the Penguins beginning in the 2004-05 season. Porchak was nationally ranked as a junior in the 50-meter backstroke, the 100 back and the 50 fly. She will bring a wealth of championship experience as she has competed in provisional and national championships in Canada and has also competed in the United States. "Sarah should be able to step in and contribute right away," Anderson said. "She'll give us depth in the back and fly and will help us in the relays." Porchak graduated in the top 20 of her class and plans to major in education. |
