Penguins Sign Four Individuals |

Youngstown -- The Youngstown State swimming and diving team has signed four individuals to National Letters of Intent, Head Coach Matt Anderson announced on Monday. The Penguins signed Julia Darling of Holland, Mich.; Amanda Ladd of Milford, Ohio; Brittany Senn of Hinkley, Ohio and Abbie Thompson of Massillion, Ohio, Anderson said. Darling, who attends West Ottawa High School, will compete in the breaststroke and individual medley for YSU. At the Michigan State Championships, she placed 21st in the 100-yard IM and was 26th in the 100-yard breaststroke. She is an honors student posting a 3.99 grade-point average during her scholastic career. Ladd, who attends Milford High School, will compete in the butterfly events at YSU. She placed 28th at the Cincinnati Sectionals in the 100-yard fly. Senn, who attends Padua High School, is a sprinter who will compete in the freestyle events. She placed second in the 100-yard freestyle at the Mayfield Sectional and was 11th at the Northeast Ohio District meet. She was third in the 50 free at sectionals and placed 11th at the district meet. Thompson, who attends Massillon Perry High School, will join the diving portion of the YSU squad. This past year, she placed ninth in the one-meter competition at the Division I Ohio State Meet. |
