Youngstown -- The Youngstown State Penguins divers held their annual diving invitational on Sunday at the Beeghly Natatorium. Youngstown State, Clarion University and Gannon University all competed in the invite. Freshman Casey Hill won the one-meter event and finished second in the three meters. Hill took second in the one-meter diving with a score of 284.45, a career high and the second-best total in school history. Hill fell short in the one-meter to last season’s Division II National Champion of the one-meter and three-meter, Kayla Kelosky of Clarion. Kelosky had a 304.35 in the event. In the three-meter, Hill posted a career-best 293.25 - third best in school history -- which was just enough to take the victory over Kelosky who posted a 292.70. Amanda Carpin also posted fourth (three meter) and fifth-place finishes (one meter) for the Guins. Hill’s performances were the best by a Penguin since Kalyn Leveto in 2004. The entire team will compete together Feb. 24 when the Horizon League Championships take place in Chicago, Ill. |
