Youngstown -- Swimmers Alana Kane and Laura Hanley and diver Caitlin Davis have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Youngstown State, head swimming and diving coach Matt Anderson announced. Kane is a sprint freestyler from Greensburg, Pa., Hanley is a breaststroker from Oregon, Ohio and Davis hails from Murfreesboro, Tenn. Kane is a Pennsylvania state and district qualifier, and a YMCA district, state and national qualifier. She was named Hempfield Area High's Rookie-of-the-Year as a freshman, and she carries a 3.75 grade-point average. "We are very excited to have Alana join our program," Anderson said. "She will be a great addition to our sprint program and will add depth to our IMs. She is a great fit with our team and we look forward to having her here next year." Hanley is also a YMCA national qualifier and is a three-time team captain at Clay High. She finished fourth in the 100 breast at the Ohio Northwest district meet and sixth in the 200 IM. Hanley, the sister of current YSU swimmer Kim Hanley, also carries a 3.8 GPA and ranks in the top 10 percent of her class. "Laura is someone that will become a team leader here at YSU, and her personality is going to be a great addition to our program," Anderson said. "She will come in and have an immediate impact in the breaststroke and IM events." Davis attends Siegel High School where she has been a state finalist, earned all-area diver accolades and was named team MVP. She has also competed in gymnastics and is a member of the National Honor Society. |
