Youngstown -- Danielle Chase (Erie, Pa.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her softball and academic career at Youngstown State University and Jessica Rozniewski (North Canton, Ohio) has transferred to YSU from Ashland University, Youngstown State Head Coach Christy Cameron announced on Thursday (July 6). "With the addition of Danielle and Jessica, we feel we have really solidified our recruiting class and our program," Cameron said. "Both are very athletic players and help fill some voids in our line up." Chase, a pitcher, was a four-year letterwinner at Iroquois High School and a two-time first-team all-region selection. Chase opened the 2006 season by firing a perfect game against Mercyhurst Prep with nine strikeouts. As a junior, Chase went 16-5 with a 0.55 earned-run average and 224 strikeouts in 153 innings pitched. She also recorded 13 shutouts. Rozniewski, an infielder, played 37 games as a freshman at Ashland last season while batting .421 with a double, 12 runs scored and seven runs batted in. Rozniewski, who will be immediately eligible, can play second base, third base or shortstop. As a senior at North Canton Hoover, she batted .391 with 20 runs batted in and six stolen bases while being named First-Team All-Federal League. |
