Youngstown -- Youngstown State softball Head Coach Christy Cameron announced today (Dec. 14) the signing of National Letters of Intent during the early signing period by infielders Kim Klonowski (Plymouth, Mich.) and Katy Potokar (Grove City, Ohio) for the 2008 softball season. Klonowski, a first-team all-state shortstop last season, batted .559 with 19 runs scored and 21 runs batted in during her junior season at Plymouth High School. During the summer, Klonowski batted .413 while scoring 11 runs and driving in 12 more. "Kim is a good athlete with a good understanding of the game," Cameron said. "She can take control of the game and communicates well with her teammates." Potokar is a two-time all-district selection and a two-time first-team all-conference selection at Grove City High School. Last season, Potokar led Grove City with a .443 batting average and batted .375 as a sophomore and .333 during her freshman year. Also during her freshman season, Potokar earned second-team all-conference laurels. "Katy is a raw but good athlete who can play several infield positions," Cameron said. "She is also athletic enough that she could see time in the outfield." Youngstown State opens the 2007 season at the Eastern Kentucky Tournament, March 3-4 |
