Soccer Falls to Valparaiso, 2-0
Youngstown -- The Youngstown State women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Horizon League foe Valparaiso on Saturday afternoon at Farmers Bank Field.

The Penguins fall to 4-10-1 overall and 2-3 in the Horizon League while the Crusaders improve to 8-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the league.

After a scoreless first half, the Crusaders' Rita Craven scored just over two minutes into the second half to give Valparaiso a 1-0 lead.

After a rebound off of a YSU defender, Craven took the ball on the left side of the box and beat YSU goalkeeper Jackie Podolsky with a shot to the lower right corner at the 47:41 mark.

The Crusaders added a second goal at the 56:53 mark to take a 2-0 lead. Valparaiso goalkeeper Kristen Manski boomed a punt to the YSU side of the field and found Craven, who streaked down the right side.

Craven's center into the box found Robin Wenzel who found the upper left corner for her first goal of the season.

Valparaiso out-shot the Penguins, 17-13, and had 13 corner kicks to Youngstown State's one.

The Penguins visit Milwaukee, Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m.
