Soccer Falls to Oakland, 2-0
Rochester, Mich. -- The Youngstown State women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Oakland on Saturday evening at the OU Soccer Field.

The Penguins fall to 3-9-1 overall and 1-2 in the Horizon League while the Golden Grizzlies improve to 6-7-1 and 2-2 in the league.

Oakland scored two early goals in the first half and held on for the shutout. A Sarah Reynolds header off a corner kick from Alice Palmer at the 13:24 mark put the Golden Grizzlies up 1-0.

Just over four minutes later, Kyla Kellerman put the Grizzlies up 2-0 at the 17:57 mark of the first half.

Oakland totaled 29 shots, including 14 shots on goal, while the Penguins tallied just six shots and had three attempts on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Jackie Podolsky recorded six saves and freshman keeper Katie Montgomery added five. The Penguins were also credited with a team save.

The Penguins visit Cleveland State, Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.
