Neu, McLean Improve School Marks at SPIRE Invitational
Geneva, Ohio - Conner Neu (weight throw) and Austin McLean (3,000-meter run) improved their school records in their respective events to lead the YSU track and field squads at the SPIRE Division I Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, Neu broke his own school record with a toss of 20.84 meters in the weight throw. On his second attempt of the competition, Neu broke his previous-best throw of 20.40m with his toss by 0.44 meters. He had three throws of more than 20 meters on the evening.

In the 3,000-meter run on Saturday, McLean posted a personal-best time of 8:10.45. It lowered his school record and previous best time by just over three seconds. He finished 10th place in the race that featured 45 runners.

Sprinter Nina Grambling was fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.55 seconds on Saturday a day after finishing seventh in a fast 200-meter dash with a time of 24.65 seconds.

Also on Friday, Eric Rupe ran the second-fastest 5,000-meter time in school history in the top heat of the event with a time of 14:22.27. All four Penguins in the race went under 15 minutes in the 5,000m.

In the men's 60m dash, Carl Zallow clocked a time of 6.99 seconds. In the 60m hurdles, Caleb Lloyd clocked a time of 8.34 seconds.

Fillian Lee set a personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 13.95 meters. In the high jump, Arnaldo Morales cleared a height of 2.01 meters to place eighth.

The Penguins will be in action on Friday at the Zips Invitational, their final meet before the Horizon League Championships at the end of the month in Youngstown.
