Greensboro, N.C. - Sarah Dowd went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs to lead the Youngstown State softball team to a 10-4 win over Iona on Saturday. The Penguins also dropped a 14-2 decision to Lehigh later in the day.

Senior Miranda Castiglione was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs while junior Brittney Moffatt went 2-for-4 to lead the Penguins', who improve to 3-3, 12-hit attack.

Junior Caitlyn Minney struck out five in five innings pitched to pick up her third win of the season.

The Penguins struck quickly with a four spot in the top half of the first inning. Dowd led off the game with a double to right field and scored from third on Castiglione's double to down the left-field line. Alexandria Gibson doubled to left field to plate Castiglione to give the Penguins a 3-0 lead. Cali Mikovich double to left-center field and her and Gibson scored on a throwing error.

In the top of the second, Jordan Macey led off the frame with a single through the left side and Dowd followed with her third home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field, to put the Penguins up, 6-0.

Castiglione's double to left field in the top of the fourth plated Moffatt, who singled, and gave the Penguins a 7-0 lead.

After Iona scored in the bottom half of the fourth, Demi Ann Patonis recorded a run-scoring single and Dowd drove in her third run of the game with her second double to extend the Penguins lead to 9-1.

In the top of the seventh, Gibson recorded a bases-loaded walk that scored Dowd with the Penguins' final run.

Against Lehigh, Maria Lacatena belted her second home run of the season, a two-run shot in the bottom of the second for the Penguins' only runs.

Youngstown State play Iona and UNC-Greensboro, Sunday, at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
