Just coming off a three-game series at Wright State, the Youngstown State softball team will be back in action, Tuesday, April 7, when it visits Saint Francis (Pa.) in a doubleheader staring at 3 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Penguins dropped an 8-7 decision to Wright State in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Stevie Taylor went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs while senior Kayla Haslett hit her first career grand slam. The Penguins used a six-run fifth inning to take a 7-3 lead, but gave up five unearned runs over the next two innings to suffer the setback.

Up Next
The Penguins return to Horizon League action when they host in-state foe Cleveland State, April 10-11, at the YSU Softball Field. First pitch on Friday is set for 3 p.m. and Saturday's doubleheader is slated for a 1 p.m. start.

Castiglione Sets Steals Mark

The 55 steals is also tied for second on the school's single-season list. The school record is 65 and the last time the Penguins stole at least 55 bases was in 2012.

Taylor Made
Freshman Stevie Taylor has made a great adjustment to college ball. Overall, Taylor is batting .325 with seven doubles, a triple, five home runs and 17 runs batted in. She also leads the team with eight multi-hit games and is tied for the team lead with six mult-RBI games. In league play, Taylor leads the team with a .385 batting average with three doubles, two home runs and seven RBIs.

Haslett Is Grand
Senior Kayla Haslett became the 12th player in Youngstown State history to record a grand slam when she belted one against Wright State on April 5. It was also the program's 13th grand slam in school history. Earlier this year, sophomore Sarah Dowd became the only player in school history with two career grand slams.
