Softball Hosts Loyola, Green Bay in Busy Horizon League Weekend

The Youngstown State softball team is gearing up for its busiest weekend of the season when it hosts six Horizon League games in four days. The Penguins welcome Loyola, April 18-19, and Green Bay, April 20-21.

The Penguins and Ramblers start their three-game series with a doubleheader, Thursday, at 3 p.m. at McCune Park. A single game closes out the series with a first pitch at 3 p.m. on Friday.

The three-game series against the Phoenix begins with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m. and concludes with a single game at Noon on Sunday.

About Loyola
The Ramblers (19-13, 7-2 Horizon League) are atop the league standings. Brittany Gardner leads the pitching staff with a 10-6 record and an earned-run average of 2.03. Lauren Zaworski owns a team-best .383 batting average while Lauren Moore is batting .357 with 11 home runs and 33 RBIs.

About Green Bay
Green Bay enters this week with an overall record of 10-19 and a league record of 3-6. Marissa Michalkiewicz leads the Phoenix with a .375 batting average and has 11 doubles. Allison Goecks leads the pitching staff with four victories and 41 strikeouts.

Rumph Second Member of 20, 100-Club
Her two-run home run against Eastern Michigan on April 16 was senior Vicky Rumph's 20th career home run. She is just the fourth player in school history to hit at least 20 home runs and ranks fourth all-time on the career list. She is also just the second player in school history with 20 home runs and at least 100 RBIs. Rumph ranks tied for third all-time with 113 career RBIs.  

Crozier Movin' Up Wins, K's Charts
Junior pitcher Casey Crozier has 34 career wins and 298 career strikeouts in less than three full seasons. She ranks fourth all-time in strikeouts and needs just two more to become the fourth player to reach the 300-strikeout plateau. Crozier, who is fifth on the victories chart, also needs just three more victories to move into fourth all-time.

Snodgrass Among League Leaders
Junior Samantha Snodgrass is have a career year for the Penguins in 2013. The South Charleston, W.Va., native is second in the league with a .388 batting average and ninth with a .538 slugging percentage. Snodgrass leads the team with nine multiple-hit games and is batting .442 with runners on base. 

Ingalls Tough With RISP
Junior Sarah Ingalls has been a tough out with runners in scoring position. Ingalls, who is batting .278 overall, has a .382 with runners in scoring position and .394 with two outs. Of her 22 RBIs, 14 have come with two outs. Over the last eight games, Ingalls is batting .500 (13-for-26) with two home runs, two doubles and 11 RBIs.
