Softball Gearing Up For 11-Game Swing Though Sunshine State
After nearly two weeks off, the Youngstown State softball team is heading south for an 11-game swing through Florida at the Under Armour Showcase and the Rebel Games, March 8-14.

At the Under Armour Showcase hosted by South Florida, the Penguins will play five games in three days beginning with matchups against Maine and Temple on March 8 at 4:45 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.

On day two, the Penguins take on Fordham at 2:30 p.m. and Boston at 7 p.m.

The Penguins close out the Under Armour Showcase against St. Joseph's (Pa.), Sunday, March 10, at 9 p.m.

At the Rebel Games, the Penguins play six games in three days starting with matchup against Missouri Valley Conferenc memeber Creighton, Tuesday, March 12, at 3 p.m. That is followed up by 5 p.m. game against Utah Valley.

Day two of the Rebel Games features games against Wagner and Saint Peter's (N.J.) at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., resepctively. The Penguins close out the games against Fairleigh Dickinson and Army at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively on March 14.

The Penguins are 0-3 after dropping three straight games at the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament on Feb. 23-24.

Junior pitcher Casey Crozier has an earned-run average of 0.72 with eight strikeouts in 9.2 innings pitcher.

Junior Courtney Ewing and sophomore Brooke Meenachan are leading the offense with .333 batting averages.

Senior Vicky Rumph is batting .300 and has the Penguins only home run of the season.

Freshman Miranda Castiglione went 2-for-3 in her only game played this season.

The Penguins play Kent State, Tuesday, March 19, in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. in Kent, Ohio.
