by YSU
Monday, Feb 11, 2013 6:39 am
Mady, an honorable-mention All-MVFC selection in 2012, is one of 24 FCS players who have been invited to the combine. He was the only Missouri Valley Football Conference player among the group of FCS invitees. Mady was one of six FCS offensive lineman to be selected to attend.
Mady recently had a strong performance at the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game to help improve his chances of being selected in the NFL Draft (April 26-28) or being signed as an undrafted free agent. According to sources, Mady was one of five players in the event, which featured draft-eligible players from many BCS schools, who improved their draft chances significantly. His size at the event was measured at 6-foot-3, 314 pounds.
A two-year starter for the Penguins at right guard, he played a key role in YSU having a quarterback (Kurt Hess) pass for more than 2,000 yards and running back (Jamaine Cook) rush for more than 1,000 yards in each of the past two seasons. In 2012, the offensive line yielded just eight sacks, a school record for fewest allowed in a campaign.
A native of Topeka, Kan., he spent two years at Butler County Community College before joining the program in January 2011.
All 32 NFL teams will evaluate about 340 of the nation's top college players for the NFL Draft. Participants will be scheduled by position over the final four days of the combine.
