Morse and Andrews Receive League Honors

Morse, who led the Horizon League in scoring in league games and was second overall, was a surprise omission off of the first-team. Morse posted a league-high 420 points (23.3 points per game) in league competition and scored at least 20 points in 13 Horizon League contests. He posted a career-high and Horizon-League best 44 points against Green Bay on Jan. 9, 2016, and shot 47.3 percent from the field, 49 percent from 3-point range and 82.8 percent from the free-throw line in league play. Overall, Morse was second in the Horizon League in scoring (20.1 points per game), tied for fourth in steals (1.6 spg), and eighth in 3-point field-goal percentage (.419), 3-pointers made per game (2.1) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8). The Flint, Mich., native reached double figures in 26 of 29 games played and had 16 games with more than 20 points. Morse is the fourth YSU all-league selection in the last five years and is the first second-team all-league pick since the Penguins joined the Horizon League in 2001-02. Andrews broke the YSU single-season 3-point record by a freshman with 49 3-pointers this season and averaged 9.8 points per game against Horizon League opponents. He made 34 of his 49 3s against in league play and shot 38.6 percent from beyond the arc in league competition. Andrews scored in double figures 13 times and had a career-high 19 points with a career-best six 3-pointers against Green Bay on Feb. 20, 2016. He is the seventh YSU player to be named to the All-Freshman/All-Newcomer Team since the Penguins joined the league in 2001-02.
