Penguins to Begin Tom Tontimonia Invitational Today
The Youngstown State men's golf team will be competing in Northeast Ohio for the second time in two weeks when it begins play at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational hosted by Cleveland State at Lakewood Country Club in Westlake on Monday.

The Penguins are in the midst of a stretch in which they will play three events in 16 days to conclude their fall schedule. YSU competed in the Firestone Invitational hosted by Akron at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, last Monday and Tuesday.

The field will include 10 other schools including Cleveland State, Dayton, Detroit Mercy, Evansville, Green Bay, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris and Wright State. Kent State will have only individuals competing and every school except Detroit Mercy will have at least one individual.

Head Coach Tony Joy has announced that the YSU lineup will include Kevin Scherr, Ken Keller, C.J. Hughes, Bryan Kordupel and Justin Stark. Jason McQuown, Evan Standohar and Brian Terlesky will also be competing as individuals.

Scherr, Keller, Hughes, Kordupel and McQuown have participated in each of the team's first four events this fall. Stark will be competing for the third time this season while Standohar will be making his first appearance of the campaign. Terlesky will be competiting for the first time since the team's fall opener at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.

The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday with shotgun starts slated for 9:15 a.m. each day. The course at Lakewood Country Club will play approximately 7,022 yards and par is 71. Live scoring will be available via BirdieFire.com and the BirdieFire mobile app.

Cleveland State has annually hosted a fall tournament, but the event's name and host course have changed from previous years. Tom Tontimonia was an athletics administrator for 38 years at Cleveland State and was the longtime sport oversight for the Viking golf programs. After his retirement this past academic year, the golf program elected to rename its annual fall tournament after him to recognize his ardent support for the sport at CSU.

Lakewood Country Club is located at 2613 Bradley Road, Westlake, OH 44145.
