Soccer Knocks Off Valparaiso, 1-0
Valparaiso, Ind. -- Junior Marissa Martin scored her fifth goal of the season and senior Katie Montgomery tallied her second shutout of the year as the Youngstown State women's soccer team defeated Valparaiso, 1-0, on Saturday evening.

With the win, the Penguins snap an eight-game losing streak and improve to 3-10-1 overall and 1-5 in the Horizon League. Valparaiso falls to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in the league.

In the 79th minute, Martin found the upper left corner of the net for the game's lone score. Martin has scored Youngstown State's last three goals and has four in Horizon League play.

Montgomery face just eight shots and had a pair of saves.

For the match, Youngstown State out-shot the Crusaders, 11-8.

The Penguins host Cleveland State, Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 7p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field.
