Cameron Morse Scores Game-High 27 in Loss to Valparaiso
Valparaiso, Ind. -- Sophomore Cameron Morse scored a game-high 27 points, but the Youngstown State men's basketball team dropped a 97-68 decision to Valparaiso on Saturday evening at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

With the loss, the Penguins fall to 9-14 overall and 4-6 in the Horizon League while Valparaiso improves to 19-4 overall and 9-1 in the league.

Morse connected on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and made 9-of-10 free throws for his 10th 20-point outing of the year and his seventh against Horizon League opponents. It also marked Morse's 19th double figure scoring game of the year and his 17th straight game with more than 10 points.

Junior Matt Donlan scored 12 points with two 3-pointers and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

Valparaiso's Alec Peters led four Crusaders with 18 points while Vashil Fernandez had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Jubril Adekoya scored 16 points off the bench and Keith Carter added 13 points.

The Penguins shot 33.3 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from 3-point range and 74.3 percent from the free-throw line and were outrebounded, 47-26.

The Crusaders, who never trailed, shot 54.8 percent from the floor, 50 percent from 3-point range and 76.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Penguins return home for the first of four straight games at the Beeghly Center when they host Oakland, Thursday, Feb. 4, at 7:45 p.m.
