Two School Records Set At YSU College Invitational
Freshmen Chad Zallow and senior Conner Neu each broke their own school records during the YSU College Invitational on Friday at the WATTS.

Zallow broke his own record by one one-hundredth of a second, by running 7.88 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles Friday night at the YSU College Invitational at the WATTS. He surpassed the school mark at the YSU Icebreaker in December by running a time of 7.89 seconds.
Neu placed first in the weight throw with a toss of 21.41 meters, which makes him qualified for the NCAA Championships to put him seventh in the nation. Neu also broke his own school record of 20.94 meters that was made at last seasons Horizon League Championships.
 
Winners at the meet were Alan Burns (5,000 meters), Chad Zallow (60-meter hurdles), Amber Eles (60-meter hurdles), Nina Grambling (60-meter dash), Carl Zallow (60-meter dash), Neu (weight throw), Jayne Corbett (shot put), Ryan Booth (shot put), and Arnaldo Morales (high jump).
 
In the 60-meter dash, Grambling won the event with a time of 7.59 seconds and Taylor Thompkins placed fourth with a time of 7.78 seconds.
 
For the men's 60-meter dash, Carl Zallow ran a time of 6.85 seconds for the victory, and Leighton Antonio took second to clock a time of 6.91 seconds.
 
Eles took first in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.60 seconds and tied the YSU school record, Shatasia Walker came in third with a time of 8.81 seconds, and Taylor McDonald finished fifth with a time of 9.05 seconds. Caleb Lloyd took sixth with a time of 8.58 seconds in the men's 60-meter hurdles.
 
In the men's 5,000-meter run, Burns placed first with a career-best time of 14:45.34. For the women, Michelle Klim took third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:29.32.
 
For the men's mile run, Ryan Sullivan finished second with a personal-best time of 4:16.86. Jon Hutnyan placed third in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:50.87 and Mike Navratil took seventh with a time of 9:01.55.
 
In the men's 800-meter run, Austin McLean finished second with a personal-best time of 1:53.14. In the women's 400-meter dash, Jen Shiley placed third with a time of 57.56 seconds.
 
In the women's 200-meter dash, McDonald took fifth with a time of 25.87 seconds, Shatasia Walker finished seventh with a time of 26.05, and Jen Shiley came in ninth with a time of 26.20 seconds.
 
For the men's 200-meter dash, Carl Zallow clocked a time of 21.88 seconds to take second, and Leighton Antonio placed fifth with a time of 22.28 seconds.
 
In the throws, Corbett placed first in the women's shot put with a throw of 14.82 meters and second in the weight throw with a toss of 16.31 meters.
 
Booth finished first in the men's shot put with a throw of 17.08 meters.
 
In the jumps, Abby Jones came in second in the high jump to clear the bar at 1.65 meters. Mackenzie Sturtz and Ellie Pollock tied for fifth as they cleared a height of 1.55 meters.
 
In the men's high jump, Arnaldo Morales placed first as he cleared the bar at 2.08 meters, Jay Jakovina took third as he cleared a height of 2.00 meters, and Tyree Ballenger was fifth to clear the bar at 1.95 meters.
 
In the women's long jump, Grambling placed second with a leap of 5.46 meters and Ellie Pollock took sixth with a jump of 5.22 meters.
 
In the men's long jump, Montravious Berry took second with a jump of 7.09 meters, Isaac Agyemang was right behind to place third with a leap of 6.81 meters and Morales placed ninth with a jump of 6.52 meters.
 
In the women's pole vault, Sarina Mauerman took fourth with a jump of 3.45 meters, and Caitlyn Trebella, Emily Gillespie, and Shelby Marken all tied for seventh with a jump of 3.30 meters. Dylan Latone finished third in the men's pole vault with a jump on 4.45 metes.
 
The Penguins are in action next at the SPIRE Midwest Indoor Open and the Penn State National Elite Invitational which is January 29-30.
