Squad Dons Full Pads For First Time During Spring Practice
The Youngstown State football team was in full pads for the first time under new Head Coach Bo Pelini on Saturday morning at Stambaugh Stadium. The Penguins worked out for more than two hours on a breezy day at the stadium.

In the early team portions of practice the defense seemed to have the upper hand on the offense. The first team period focused running and play-action situations. The second team portion involved second-and-long plays and normal down-and-distance situations.

The offense found a good rhythm during the final 20 minutes of the session. QBs Hunter Wells and Ricky Davis engineered long drives during the nearly 20-minute moving-the-ball segment.

YSU spent time a good portion of the workout on individual drills and had its two seven-minute special teams periods once again. Early in the workout, Pelini directed most of his attention to the placekickers as the group battles to replace two-year starter Joey Cejudo.

The Guins had a fast-paced high-intensity workout that have become staples under Pelini in the early going of his YSU tenure. The staff has done a good job of making sure everyone in spring camp has reps to show the staff what they can do.

The Penguins will return to practice on Tuesday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.

Season tickets for the 2015 campaign are available by calling the YSU Athletic Ticket Office at (330) 941-1YSU.
