Ashley Dow Notches School Mark in 200 IM at HL Meet
Chicago, Ill. - The Youngstown State swimming and diving team picked up its first school record at the Horizon League Championships as sophomore Ashley Dow eclipsed the school mark in the 200 IM.

Dow won the consolation final in the 200 IM with a school-best mark of 2:07.10 for a ninth-place finish. She had originally eclipsed the mark in the perliminaries by two seconds while lowering her personal-best time by four seconds.

Capping the night off was an impressive finish in the 400-yard medley relay. The Penguins placed fourth with a time of 3:48.92, which was just .16 off the school record.

Freshman Jana Janson posted a time of 24.61 seconds in the consolation final in the 50 free. Janson had a personal-best effort of 24.34 seconds in the preliminaries.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Elli Stevens posted a time of 5:27.08.

In the 200 IM, Laura Paz finished 22nd with a time of 2:15.69

Also in the 50 Free, Soyriah Davis had a time of 24.79 seconds, Chelsea Malone swam a time of 24.90 seconds, Stafane van Niekerk clocked in at 25.31 seconds, Therese Stevens had a time of 25.38 seconds and Liseli Baich came in at 25.67 seconds.

In the team standings, the Penguins sit in sixth place with 124 points. Cleveland State leads the way with 276 points while Green Bay is second (260 points) and Milwaukee is third at 251.

The Penguins return to action on day three at the HL Championships tomorrow morning at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time.
