Late Goals Doom Soccer in 3-2 Loss at Milwaukee

With the loss, the Penguins fall to 4-11-1 overall and 2-4 in the Horizon League, while the Panthers improve to 7-8-1 overall and 5-1 in the league. Leading 2-1, the Penguins gave up two goals with under 12 minutes remaining. Morgan LaPlant tied the game with a shot from the right side of the box with 11:52 remaining. Kelsey Holbert scored the game-winner with 3:40 to go with a blast from the top right side of the penalty box to the bottom-left corner of the net. Ludwig, whose goals were her first two of the season, on top just four minutes into the match. After junior Chelsey Haney's shot was deflected by UWM keeper Paige Lincicum, Ludwig collected the ball in front of an open net for her first score of the at the 4:15 mark. The Panthers tied the game up at 1-1 when Kelly Lewers scored her eighth goal of the season at the 20:59 mark of the first half. The Penguins to a 2-1 lead at the 33:27 mark when Rachel Morrison's cross from the right corner found an open Ludwig in the middle of the box for a one-timer. The Penguins close out the regular season when they host Detroit on Senior Day, Friday, Nov. 1, at 4 p.m. at Farmers National Bank Field. |
