Soccer Falls to Northern Kentucky, 3-2
Highland Heights, Ky. – The Youngstown State women's soccer team tied a season high in goals scored, but dropped a hard-fought decision to Northern Kentucky, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Cara Armstrong and sophomore Katie Hohmann each scored their first goals of the season, but the Penguins fell to 1-6-1. Northern Kentucky improves to 4-3-1.

The Norse struck first when Sami Rutowski's high shot ricocheted off of YSU goalkeeper Katie Montgomery's hands and into the net at the 13:51 mark.

Hohmann knotted the game when she found a loose ball in the box and scored from three yards out in the 26th minute.

With less than 10 minutes left in the first half, Casey McMillan broke the tie and gave the Norse a 2-1 lead from a pass from Megan Frye.

Armstrong tied the game at 2-2 when she gathered a ball from Karlee Kline and found the back of the next at the 55:10 mark.

NKU's Katelyn Newton scored the game winner in the 62nd minute off McMillan's header from a corner kick.

YSU goalkeeper Katie Montgomery posted eight saves in the loss.

The Penguins return to action against Kent State, Friday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. in Kent, Ohio.
