Pluchinsky Paces Penguins at Cleveland State Invitational
Aurora, Ohio - Youngstown State sophomore Brandon Pluchinsky posted his first career top-10 finish placing ninth at the Cleveland State Invitational which concluded on Tuesday. Pluchinsky had a three-round total of 214, including a first-round 67.

In the team race at the Barrington Country Club, YSU placed eighth out of 13 teams with an 886 (299-296-291). Cincinnati won the event with an impressive 835 while Cleveland State was second and Evansville and Loyola tied for third. The Guins moved up three spots following their first round.

Pluchinsky charged to the first-round co-lead with his 67 in Monday's first round. He carded a 73 later in the day and was tied for fifth following the second round. His 74 on Tuesday left him in ninth place for the event. His previous career-best finish was 11th at last year's Horizon League Championships.

Bill Gaffney finished tied for 31st with a three-round 214 (67-73-74), Bryan Yeo was 33rd with a 225 (79-76-70), D.J. Holub was also 33rd with a 225 (77-75-73) and Trevor Jones placed 54th with a 232 (77-77-78).

Golfing as individuals were Thomas Lydic who was 58th with a 233 (83-81-69) and Mark Olbrych who had a 244 (87-7-80).

The Penguins return to action on Oct. 7-8 at the Bearcat Invitational.
