Holub Ties For Third at BGSU John Piper Intercollegiate

Holub was the leader after the first round firing an impressive eight-under-par 64. He slipped to second place, one shot behind Marshall's Logan Lagodich following the second round. In the end, Green Bay's Tom Boockmeier won with a three-round 213 while Bowling Green's Chris Melvin moved into second place.
Holub's 64 was the lowest of the tournament by four shots and staked him to a six-shot cushion after Monday's first round. He had a 76 later Monday and on Tuesday carded a 75.
In the team scoring, YSU had an 883 (288-302-294) to finish fifth out of six teams. The Penguins were second after their opening round 288, just three shots back of Valparasio. However, YSU slide to fifth during the second round. Marshall won the event with an 866 while Valpo was second at 869.
Bill Gaffney finished 13th with a 220 (77-71-72), Bryan Yeo tied for 20th with a 224 (74-78-72), Brandon Pluchinsky was 24th at 226 (73-78-75) and Trevor Jones placed 32nd with a 231 (77-76-78). Mark Olbrych was 34th with a 232 (78-78-76) competing as an individiual.
The Penguins return to action on Sept. 30 at the Cleveland State Invitational.
