Penguins Place Second at Season-Opening Colgate Invitational
Hamilton, N.Y. - The Youngstown State men's golf team placed second out of 14 teams at the season-opening Colgate Invitational which concluded with a round on Sunday. YSU held the team lead following Saturday's two rounds at the Seven Oaks Golf Club.

Binghamton had the low round of the day to rally past the Penguins to win the team title. Binghamton finished with a three-round total of 880 (303-281-296) while the Guins carded an 888 (286-295-307). Lehigh finished third while Army was fourth.

YSU had three golfers in the top 11 of the event. Leading the way was Bryan Yeo who had a 219 to place seventh. Yeo had rounds of 72, 73 and 74 in the tournament.

Trevor Jones was the first and second-round leader and finished eighth with a 221. Jones had rounds of 70, 73 and 78.

New York native Bill Gaffney was 11th with a three-round total of 223. Gaffney had rounds of 72, 74 and 77.

Also for the Penguins, D.J. Holub placed 21st with a 227 (72-75-80), Mark Olbrych was 40th with a 234 (77-79-78) and Thomas Lydic was 48th with a 239 (80-72-87).

YSU returns to the links on Sept. 16-17 when it competes at Bowling Green's John Piper Intercollegiate.
