Golfers Have Represented YSU Well in Summer Tournaments

At the New York State Amateur which concluded on Thursday, Bill Gaffney placed 27th out of 148 golfers. Gaffney carded a four-round total of 305 at the Schuyler Meadows Club in 91st New York State Men's Amateur Championship. He carded rounds of 71, 78, 78 and 78 in the tournament. The final 44 golfers played 36 holes on the final day.
At the Ohio Amateur Championships, D.J. Holub and Bryan Yeo both tied for 31st with a 222 out of 144 golfers. Holub had rounds of 77, 71, 74 while Yeo posted scores of 76, 70, 76 at Brookside Country Club earlier this month.
At the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in mid-July, Holub was 109th out of 156 with a two-round total of 151. He opened the tournament with a 79 before firing a 72 on his second round at the Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lawton, Va. He had three birdies his second round and was even par on his final nine holes.
In late June at the Mid-Ohio Invitational, Brandon Pluchinsky was seventh with a two-round score of 141 (70-71), Mark Olbrych tied for 14th with a 144 (76-68), Trevor Jones had a 147 (78-69), Yeo had a 153 (76-77) and Thomas Lydic had a 155 (79-76).
Olbrych's second-round 68 was the lowest score of the second round and second-lowest in the event.
