With the increase in practice size allowed by the NCAA, the Penguins have nearly 110 student-athletes on their fall-camp roster.
YSU worked out in helmets for a little more than two hours and ended the day when senior PK Zak Kennedy kicked a 40-yard field goal to end the workout.
Senior quarterback Montgomery VanGorder and junior quarterback Nathan Mays both took reps with the No. 1 and No. 2 offensive units. Senior Tevin McCaster and sophomore Christian Turner saw the bulk of the work at tailback with London Pearson and Braxton Chapman getting carries.
On the defensive side, senior linebacker Armand Dellovade is back for his fourth year as a starter.
The Penguins will hold their second practice of camp on Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. before taking part in "Meet The Penguins" Fan Day at 1:30 p.m.
The Penguins open the 2018 season against Butler on Sept. 1 at Stambaugh Stadium. Season tickets and Penguin Club memberships for the upcoming campaign are available by contacting the YSU Athletics Ticket Office at (330) 941-1978.
