Kurt Hess Accepts Invitation to College All-Star Bowl

The All-Star Game will feature a variety of draft-eligible senior standouts from the FBS and FCS level. Quarterbacks who have committed to participate in the game include Arkansas State's Adam Kennedy, Saginaw Valley State's Jon Jennings, Wake Forest's Tanner Price and Hess. Head coaches for the contest are Danny Ford and Willie Jeffries.
The College All Star Bowl will be played February 14 at 6 p.m. at Furman University's Paladin Stadium and aired nationally on the CBS Sports Network. The College All Star Bowl will feature open practices for fans, autograph sessions, skills clinics and a scouting combine for athletes to test for NFL scouts. Hess had a standout four-year career for the Penguins and concluded his career as a second-team all-league selection in 2013. He was first-team pick as a sophomore in 2011 and honorable-mention candidate in 2012.
He recently concluded his YSU career as the school-record holder in completions (706), attempts (1,135), yards (8,925), touchdown passes (75), yards per game (198.4), 200-yard passing games (24), passer rating (144.96), TDs responsible for (87), four-touchdown passing games (six), total offensive yards (9,459) and total offense per game (210.2).
He was also a standout in the classroom earning first-team All-MVFC honors three times and was named to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star earlier this month.
Former YSU offensive linemen Kyle Bryant and Chris Elkins will play in the 89th East-West Shrine Game on Saturday at 4 p.m. Both players are members of the East squad with Elkins wearing No. 74 and Bryant in No. 71. Former NFL Head Coach Jerry Glanville is serving as the head coach for the East squad.
