YSU spent the first part of the practice working on special teams. After a 30-minute individual session, the Penguins had an extended team period. The starting offensive unit went head to head while the second team saw plenty of action. After the No. 1 defense stopped the No. 1 offense on a third and short, the second-team offense was able to move down the field for a score. On the drive, reserve quarterback Nick Wargo connected with Christian Bryan for a 30-yard gain. Demond Hymes capped the possession with an 11-yard scoring run. Quarterback Kurt Hess Hess found Marcel Caver for a 40-yard gain and later in the drive Hess connected with Nate Adams on a nine-yard touchdown strike. The second-team defense stopped a drive with a sack and then held on a fourth-and-goal situation from the three-yard line in part to good coverage by David Rivers. During the red-zone situations, the defense swarmed Hymes for a loss on a third-and-five play. On the next possession, Torrian Pace scored on a 11-yard run straight up the middle. Pace added a two-yard score and found paydirt from five yards on the next two sequences. In the final two series, Wargo found Kintrell Disher for a score while Hess scrambled for a 15-yard scoring run. To end the practice, the Penguins worked on third down situations and practice ended when Hess threw a strike to Bryan for a 20-yard gain.
