The weather was cool and dry while the sun came out at various points of the workout as the Penguins took advantage and had a productive two-plus hour practice.
YSU showed good energy and enthusiasm during the workout. After working on special teams to open the workout, the Guins then spent a solid 30 minutes on individual work.
Following the individual session, the action heated up when the offensive lineman and tight ends had one-on-one drills against the defensive lineman and linebackers. Each side won various battles against each other as the intensity during the 10-minute drill was extremely high.
YSU then had a short team period with tailbacks Torrian Pace, Demond Hymes and Adaris Bellamy all having strong carries while quarterback Kurt Hess hit Michael Wheary on a deep post route.
In the seven-on-seven drills, reserve quarterback Nick Wargo had some good throws.
The final team portion of practice featured good plays by both units. Junior linebacker Travis Williams blew up an offensive play and the defense later recovered a fumble. Defensive end Vince Coleman broke up a pass as well.
Hess connected with Christian Bryan on a nifty catch-and-run while he found Andrew Williams near the sideline on one play.
The Penguins practice next on Tuesday afternoon. The workout is scheduled for Stambaugh Stadium.
