Ryan Sullivan Sets Personal Best at Pre-Nationals, Women Place Fifth at Canisius

Youngstown State senior Ryan Sullivan posted a personal-best time of 24:34.4 and finished 41st out of 242 runners at the Pre-Nationals Meet hosted by the University of Wisconsin. Sullivan broke his previous best time by two seconds and was just two seconds shy of eclipsing Matt Folk's 8K record of 24:32 set in 1998.

Senior Alan Burns turned in a time of 25:23..9 and Derek Basinger finished with a time of 25:45.1

On the women's side, Morgan Buckley led the Penguins with a 14th place finish with a time of 19:19.9 while Casey Zaitzew placed 19th in 19:38.7. Raquel Markulen came in 21st with a time of 19:41.1, Xena Maali posted a time of 20:00.4 for a 34th place finish, Emma Hunkus recorded a time of 21:21.8 and Alison Green ran a 23:10.8.

The both teams are idle next week as they prepare for the Horizon League Cross Country Championships, Saturday, Oct. 27.
