Penguins Win Five Singles Matches to Beat Bucknell
Youngstown - The Youngstown State women's tennis team won five singles matches to defeat Bucknell 5-2 on Friday night at the Boardman Tennis Center. It was the Penguins's first home win of the season.

Annina Brendel, Nehel Sahni, Ana Stroe, Noelly Longi Nsimba and Dominika Lackova each won their singles matches for the Guins.

Brendel was YSU's first winner taking a 6-0, 6-2 decision over Michele Urbinati at No. 2 singles. At No. 5, Sahni earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Stephanie Pino. At No. 6, Stroe cruised to a 6-4, 6-0 win against Melissa Parks.

Nsimba clinched the match with a hard-fought three set win at No. 4. She dropped the first set 6-3 before rebounding to take the second 6-1. In the third, she trailed 4-1 before rattling off the final five points for a 6-4 third-set win.

In the final match of the night, Lackova grinded out a 7-6 (5), 7-5 win at No. 1 against Maria Cioffi.

The Bison (0-1) won two of three doubles matches to take the point. YSU won at No. 3 as Stroe and Sahni picked up a 6-4 win over Pino and Emilie Bush.

The Penguins (2-7) return to action on Sunday morning when they play host to Ball State. First serve at the Boardman Tennis Center is set for 9 a.m.
