Merling Wins Medalist Honors at Delta Gamma Challenge
New Braunfels, Texas - YSU golfer Aislynn Merling shared medalist honors with two other golfers as high winds and a dropping wind chill forced the cancellation of the final round of the Delta Gamma Challenge hosted by Texas State on Monday at the Landa Park Golf Course.

In the team competition, the Penguins ended up placing 11th out of 14 teams after two rounds were held on Sunday. Merling tied with Lora Assad from Texas State and UALR's Sabrina Bonanno for first place. It was Merling's first under-par round as a Penguin. It was Merling's first medalist finish since her freshman campaign.

On Sunday, YSU fired rounds of 303 and 296 for a two-round score of 599. The second-round total of 296 was a school-record for lowest team score in a round while the 599 set a new 36-hole mark.

The Penguins are next in action March 11-12 at the Butler Florida Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
