The Youngstown State women's basketball team will celebrate "Senior Day" and play its final regular-season game of the year at Beeghly Center on Monday against Valparaiso. Tipoff against the Crusaders is set for 7:05 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on 570 WKBN, iHeartRadio and the Horizon League Network. The Penguins will be looking to win their third home game in five days and avenge an eight-point loss at Valpo on Jan. 12.

Tickets and Promotions

Tickets are available for purchase on YSUsports.com, by phone at (330) 941-1978, and at the main YSU Athletics Ticket Office in Stambaugh Stadium until 5 p.m. on Monday. The Beeghly Center ticket office will open at 6 p.m. on Monday. The women's basketball program will celebrate Senior Day prior to the game at approximately 6:50 p.m.

All-Time Series

YSU owns an 18-14 lead in the all-time series against Valparaiso. The Penguins had beaten the Crusaders four straight times under Bob Boldon until Valpo won 67-59 on Jan. 12. The teams competed against each other in the Mid-Continent Conference from 1992-93 to 2000-01, and the rivalry was renewed in the Horizon League in 2007-08.

Scouting Valparaiso

Valparaiso has lost four straight games to drop to 9-18 overall and 4-10 in Horizon League play. Tabitha Gerardot is fifth in the league in scoring with 15.3 points per game and third in rebounding with 9.3 per contest. She had 26 points and 17 rebounds against YSU earlier this year. The Crusaders average a league-low 62.1 points per game. Tracey Dorow is in her first year as head coach.

Brown Breaks Rebounding Record

Senior Brandi Brown added to her legend Saturday by becoming Youngstown State's record holder for career rebounds. With 8:05 remaining in the first half, Brown grabbed the 1,179th rebound in her career. That broke Wanda Grant's previous record from 1977-81. Brown finished Saturday with a career-high 21 rebounds, and she has 1,193 in her career. That ranks as the fourth-most among active players in the country.

Countdown to 2,000

On the heels of her recent scoring tear, Brandi Brown is just nine points from reaching 2,000 for her career. If she can reach 2,000, she will be just the 136th player in NCAA Division I history to score 2,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds in a career. Dorothy Bowers (1984-88) is the only other player in school history to have at least 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, and only one player in Horizon League history has reached those milestones. Additionally, only four active players in the country currently have 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
