Spirit Squad Allows For Video Tryouts Through May 1

The YSU cheerleading team is accepting video tryout submissions until May 1. Tryouts were recently held for the 2015-16 squad, but to allow for more members, Coaches Michelle Markota and Jenna Schneider are allowing candidates to submit video tryouts.

Videos should be submitted to both coaches at the following email addresses: jsstacy10@gmail.com and markota00@att.net

A reminder to all candidates to make sure that you meet all requirements and can start with open gyms and practices as soon as possible.

How video tryouts work: Record the following skills and send them to the Coaches' emails. The video needs to be simple and accurate to your current ability.

Start with a fast introduction telling us your name.

Jumps
Hurkey-pike-toe jump-double toe jump
Tumbling
Standing - handspring (mandatory)
Standing tuck (optional)
Standing toe jump handspring (mandatory)
Standing toe jump tuck (optional)
Running - round off handspring (mandatory)
Round off multiple handsprings (optional)
Round off multiples and a tuck/layout/full twist (optional)
Any other skills that can showcase your ability please feel free to show us.
Stunting (not mandatory)

If you can show us stunting please add this to your video. Once we have reviewed all video tryouts the staff will respond.

Following the May 1 deadline, those selected will receive an invitation to one of our team practices! After seeing you in person and with the team, we will decide if you have made the squad.
