Basketball Drops Regular Season Finale to Wright State, 72-45
Dayton, Ohio -- The Youngstown State men's basketball team dropped a 72-45 decision to Wright State in the regular-season finale on Saturday afternoon at the Nutter Center.

The Penguins fall to 16-14 overall and 7-9 in the Horizon League while Wright State improves to 19-11 overall and 10-6 in the league.

With the loss, the Penguins secured the sixth seed in the 2013 Horizon League Tournament and will host seventh-seeded Loyola, Tuesday, March 5, at 7:05 p.m. at the Beeghly Center.

Senior Damian Eargle was the only player to reach double figures with 11 points as the Penguins were held to a season-low in scoring.

Junior Kamren Belin had eight points while sophomore DJ Cole and freshman Bobby Hain had seven points each.

The Penguins shot just 30 percent in the first half but also committed 14 first-half turnovers that led to 19 Wright State points.

The Raiders, who never trailed, jumped out to a 10-2 advantage within the games first four minutes.

Wright State built a 13-point lead, 19-6, at the 11:26 mark before the Penguins used an 8-2 run to get within seven, 21-14, with 8:17 to go. A layup and 3-pointer by Allen and three free throws by Shawn Amiker fueled the mini run.

The Raiders outscored the Penguins 18-5 over the next eight minutes to take a 39-19 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Penguins shot the ball better in the second half with 42.1 percent clip but the Raiders, who shot 61.5 percent in the first half, connected on 50 percent in the second half.

Wright State led by as many as 29 points, 67-39, with 3:20 left in the game.
