Heath Takes Weekly Awards, as Baseball Travels to Face Buckeyes

Heath batted .333 in YSU's three-game series at Wright State over the weekend with all three of his hits going for extra bases. The Burghill, Ohio, native and Badger High graduate also walked three times and was hit by a pitch in three other plate appearances to post a .600 on-base percentage during the week.
Heath reached base three times and scored a run in YSU's 10-1 victory over the Raiders in Thursday's series opener. He doubled in a run on Friday, and he accounted for four RBIs and three runs in YSU's series-clinching victory on Saturday. In the finale, Heath hit a solo home run in the first and a three-run blast in the fourth while also reaching base two other times. He posted a slugging percentage of 1.111 during the series.
Heath ranks second in the Horizon League in home runs and RBIs while also ranking in the top 10 in total bases and slugging percentage.
Heath and the Penguins will play at Ohio State on Tuesday before hosting Akron in their Eastwood Field opener on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
YSU will also host its second school day game in conjunction with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley on Tuesday, May 14, against Canisius. Gates will open 9:30 a.m., and first pitch against the Golden Griffins at Eastwood Field will be at 11 a.m. The Scrappers are taking reservations and are encouraging groups to sign up early to guarantee seating for both the game on May 14 and the day game on May 3 against Wright State.
