Jeffery, a junior from Pickerington, Ohio, was named the Horizon League's inaugural Setter of the Year in 2014. Jeffery was also picked to repeat as an all-league honoree. Jeffery will be in her second season as a Penguin after transferring from High Point in the spring of 2014.
With Jeffery running the offense last year, Youngstown State had its best attack percentage since 1999 and its most kills per set since 2007. More importantly, the Penguins had their most wins in 15 years. Jeffery averaged 10.40 assists, the fourth-most in the Horizon League and the most by a YSU setter since 2005.
Jeffery was joined on the preseason all-league team by Oakland's Sammy Condon and Cassie Pelloni, Valparaiso's Emily Campbell, Cleveland State's Grace Kauth, Milwaukee's Kayla Price and UIC's Stephenee Yancy. Yancey was voted the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, and Valparaiso's Morganne Longoria was selected as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Jeffery and her Youngstown State teammates will begin the 2015 season on Friday against Bradley at the Toledo Rocket Invitational.
