Volleyball Competitive in Loss to No. 27 Arizona State
Champaign, Ill. -- The Youngstown State volleyball team lost 3-0 to No. 27 Arizona State on Thursday night at the Illini Classic but was competitive for most of the match.

Following an obstacle-filled bus trip that forced the Penguins to arrive at a hotel early this morning that was still several hours from Champaign, YSU lost 25-21 in the first and third sets and 25-11 in the second.

Missy Hundelt finished with 13 kills to lead all players, and Jackie Carlisle finished with eight. Hundelt added four blocks, Casey D'Ambrose had 26 assists, and Erika West posted 11 digs. The Penguins were hurt by eight receiving errors.

Arizona State, which has won each of its 21 sets this season, hit .283 as a team and got nine kills from Macey Gardner and BreElle Bailey.

Youngstown State will play Bradley on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Eastern at the Billiken Classic.
