Hardaway, who will be entering his second season as the head coach of the Penguins, will run the Ohio Valley Region High Performance training camp July 8-10 to select a final roster for the tournament. A group of 22 athletes were invited to the training camp from two try-out sessions, and nine or 10 players will make the travel squad. The tournament will be July 23-27 in the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center.
"I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to coach a group of athletes that will represent the Ohio Valley Region at a national tournament," Hardaway said. "I am looking forward to working with the athletes and other coaches. I would like to thank the OVR Director of High Performance, Michelle Hills, for giving me this great opportunity."
In Hardaway's first season at YSU, the Penguins posted their best season since 1999. YSU won 10 more matches than it did in 2011, which was the 10th-best win improvement in the country. In fact, YSU's 15 wins in 2012 were more than its previous three seasons combined.
