Distance Standouts Set to Race in Penn State National Meet

Six Youngstown State distance runners will participate in the Penn State National this Friday and Saturday at PSU's Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. The competition will feature some of the top squads from across the country, as well as high-level professional athletes.

Competing for the Penguins will be Samantha Hamilton, McKinsie Klim and Michelle Klim for the women and Eric Rupe, Nick Gliha and Austin McLean for the men. All six will be in action on Saturday.

Hamilton will run in the mile which features a strong field of 13 runners. Among the participants are four runners from Stanford, three from Penn State and three from Duke. Her race is scheduled for late Saturday.

Sisters McKinsie Klim and Michelle Klim are among 22 runners who will compete in the 3,000-meter run. The Klim's will run prior to the men's 3,000 meters.

All three YSU men - Gliha, McLean and Rupe - will be among 17 runners participating in the 3,000-meter run. The trio will be in action on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The remainder of the Penguins will be in action at the SPIRE Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.
