Penguins Compete in the Doug Raymond Invitational

Freshman Chenera Lacy continues to have an impressive freshman year in her first two meets with back to back first place finishes in the high jump. She jumped 1.65m and beat second place sophomore Paige Rittelmann from Duquesne who also jumped 1.65m but Lacy managed to carry out the victory with less missed attempts at the end.
Sophomore Jay Jakovina competed in the high jump as well for YSU and finished second with a jump of 2.05m behind first place winner Cody Jones of Kent State who jumped 2.10m. Senior Bobby Grace threw the shot put and ended up finishing in second place with a school record throw of 18.95m. He missed first place by .14m which was Derrick Vicars who was listed as unattached. Jay and Bobby are also starting the year off good for the Penguins with both of them earning a first place and a second place finish in the first two meets of the season.
The YSU Track and Field teams will participate next in the YSU Invitational where they will host at the Watts on Jan. 24.
