Penguins Fall to Temple In Dual Play on Saturday

Greensburg, Pa. - Luke Purser and Bassem El Mekawi picked up singles wins as the Penguins dropped a 5-2 contest to Temple on Saturday at the Greensburg Racquet Club. 

Purser earned a 7-5, 6-4 win over Nicolas Paulus at No. 3 while El Mekawi won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 over Uldazimir Dorash. 

At No. 1, Hugo Morth lost a tough 6-2, 4-6, 7-5  contest to Santiago Canete. The match was clinched by Temple with a win at No. 2 as Artem Kapshuk defeated Matthew Kritzinger in two tiebreaks. Kirtzinger lost 7-6 (3) and 7-6 (3) in both sets.

The Owls (9-1) won the doubles point by winning all three matches.

The Penguins return to action on Sunday morning when they play host to Bucknell. First serve is set for 9 a.m. at the Boardman Tennis Center.
